Mannheim (3-5/8) (Germany)
The AniMagic in Mannheim took place from the 3rd to the 5th August 2018. We visited it only on Friday and Saturday. Indeed, it was our first time at the AniMagic and so here is our review. The venue is very big as everything was spread over 4 floors. The dealers were mostly located in the basement and ground floor. Whereas the 3th floor was used for the photo shooting and eating area, the 2nd floor was for gaming competitions. And then there is the ‘Rosengarten’ (Rose Garden) in front of the venue which is very beautiful. We love the location with the flowers and water fountains. The venue was sometimes very crowded but not too much as if you could not move anymore. We also have one tiny critic: we did not like the idea that it was forbidden to bring any water inside even though it was almost 40 degrees outside (like 100 Fahrenheit).
Here was the lineup for the convention:
Friday: Crowley Eusford and Ferid Bathory from Owari no Seraph (Seraph of the End)
Saturday: Victor Nikiforov and Yuri Plisetsky from Yūri!!! On Ice.
Nonetheless, we have to admit that it was a bit too hot for the Owari no Seraph costumes but we were glad that we have worn it. Both costumes received great and positive feedback meaning that many people asked for pictures ^^. We really love the idea of the free photoshoot from Cosbase which had been uploaded later on their website.
We met and saw many great and divers costumes and cosplayers such Kuroshitsuji, Yūri!!! On Ice, Owari No Seraph, Yarichin B*tch Club, Attack on Titan, Tokyo Ghoul, Free!,Noragami, just to mention a few.

Besides cosplayers, many merch stands with figures, keychains, stuffed toys and so on were also present. We also bought many stuff from these stands including figures.
Stuff we bought xD
The AniMagic also invited many great magakas from Japan but also from Europe such as the Zarbo twins. Ban Zarbo is the author of Kamo and we received nice signatures from both.
Moreover, the AniMagic also consists of some theaters which presented movies such as the ‘Free! – Take Your Marks’ and ‘Your Name’. Indeed, we did not attend the movies because we have seen most of them and we do not like the German synchronisation (we prefer to watch the movies and anime series in Japanese). However, we saw eufonius ( a J-Rock band) and it was not bad. Not only movies were shown and concerts were held but also cosplay competitions took place. (However due to the signing sessions of the Zarbo Twins we were not able to attend the cosplay competition.)
All in all, it was definitely an awesome experience for our first AniMagic visit. Even of the hot weather we had so much fun: met amazing cosplayers, took great pictures, spent much money in merch and spent an awesome time. We will definitely come back next year 🙂
Here are some pictures we took at the Rosengarten:
