This is our review of the anime convention in Paris:JapanExpo. This year the convention celebrated 20 years. We only went on saturday and it was our first time. However the weather was too hot and this could also be felt inside the halls. The organisation of the con was not bad. It was very big as it was divided into several venues and in the middle there was a small garden. Even though it was quite small, it was nice to hang out there. Our lineup for the JapanExpo was: Victor Nikiforov and Yuri Plisetsky from Yūri!!! on Ice.
We took the bus (Dalia’s Bus) at 4am in the morning and arrived after 9am in Paris. It was an exhausting day but it was worth it. The organisation by Dalia was well done. The bus made one stop which was very practical for cosplayers to change. However, a break of 30 minutes was a bit too short to get completely into cosplay. But all in all, the whole organisation was good. The bus left again at 7pm in the evening which is a good time as the convention finished at 6pm. We maybe consider to take the bus next year again.
We have met many great and wonderful cosplayers. They look really amazing and we are glad to have met them. They all wore fantastic cosplays and they were all so nice. Thanks again for taking a picture of us. We also appreciated that people even asked us for pictures.
The fact that the convention was really big, it consists of many merch stands but also japanese sport shows, cosplay contest and so on. One of our favorites as on most conventions are the artists alley as they consists of many talented artists.
We have to admit that we couldn’t resist (again) and bought some merch.
Nonetheless, we have to confess that the con also had some negative aspects. Firstly, it was sometimes confusing as we were quite a lot disorientated. They didn’t have any venue plans for the visitors which have made it even more difficult to orient oneself. What we also didn’t like was that the air conditioning which was really bad, it was so hot inside and with the enormous crowd it was sometimes impossible to breathe. The small garden in the middle of the halls was really tiny.
All in all, we spent an awesome time at the JapanExpo and we had a lot of fun. We met great cosplayers and some people asked for pictures. However, spending one day at such a big convention is bit too short and stressful. As we really enjoyed the convention, we consider going back there either one day with the bus or maybe at least 2 days.
