This post is about the anime convention Animagic 2019. The weather varied a lot, on one day it rained and the other day it was very hot. The organisation of the Animagic was very well done with an amazing location with the ‘Rosengarten’ (rose garden) across the street where many cosplayers hung out. The garden also offered a great opportunity for photoshootings. Our line-up for the 3 days were the following: on friday we cosplayed the demon versions of Ciel and Sebastian (Black Butler), on saturday we wore the ‘Book of the Atlantic’ version of the same characters and on sunday we proudly wore our first completely self made costumes of Akutagawa and Chūya from Bungou Stray Dogs.
We have seen and met many great and talented cosplayers. They looked all very beautiful and amazing. We are glad that we could take pictures with some. In addition, we also met some friends which made the days more enjoyable. And it makes us also very happy that many asked us for pictures as they liked our cosplays.
The convention consists of an amazing program. Many signing sessions, panels and movie premiers were present. For example, we attended the panels of Bungou Stray Dogs and Free! as we love both animes. The panels were really great, funny and enjoyable. Great Japanese artists were invited. Regarding Bungou Stray Dogs, we also took part in the signing session which was limited to 100 per day (the lottery took part days before the convention). The Animagic showed the new Free! movie (Road to the World the Dream), which was an European premiere. The movie is filled with many emotions and fun which makes it great. We really love it and are happy to be one of the first ones who have seen it.
(we don’t have many picture from the panels as we are not allowed to take pictures)
Clearly there were many merch stands and exhibitors present. Next to the Maid Cafe, the convention also offers many concerts and movie theaters.
Nonetheless, we also bought some merch and couldn’t resist. We got the Funtom’s candies from cosplayers of Vincent and Rachel Phantomhive (Black Butler)
All in all, the Animagic is one of our favorite conventions which might cost a lot but also offers a great program for almost everyone. Our highlight were mostly the various cosplayers who all looked so wonderful and amazing. This was indeed our second time at the Animagic and we definitely consider to go back next year.
